Delivering Next-Gen Armoured Vehicle Training to Chile

As part of a larger fleet wide upgrade being delivered by OIP Sensors, the Marder Driver and Gunner Trainer Simulator upgrade for the Chilean Armed Forces delivers a critical modernisation of legacy platforms nearing 15 years in service. Enhancements include a high-fidelity image generator, new sensor systems to reflect platform updates, realistic crew station views, real-time recording for After Action Review, and a streamlined instructor interface. All upgrades are validated in a dedicated Simulator Integration Laboratory, supporting robust testing and battlefield readiness.

Our Role

  • Software systems architecture and design
  • High-fidelity image generation integration
  • Simulation logic and control
  • Scenario-based After-Action Review (AAR)
  • Sensor emulation and crew station fidelity
  • Deployment, documentation, and instructor training

The Project

Calytrix, in collaboration with OIP Sensor Systems, is delivering a comprehensive upgrade to the Marder Driver and Gunner Trainer Simulators for the Chilean Armed Forces – enhancing training realism, extending system life, and ensuring cross-platform interoperability with existing Leopard simulators. This modernisation-by-integration approach incorporates new Driver Assistance and EOPTRIS Fire Control systems, alongside Calytrix’s own high-fidelity image generation (CSE), real-time recording and replay, and upgraded instructor control systems. All enhancements are engineered and stress-tested in our Simulator Integration Laboratory (SIL) in Perth, providing Chile with robust, future-proof training solutions that preserve legacy investments while equipping crews for today’s battlefield conditions.
