Calytrix remains a Proud Sponsor of the Australian Army Rugby Union
Calytrix has been a proud sponsor of the Australian Army Rugby Union (AARU)
since 2007 and is pleased to retain its sponsorship in 2018.
The AARU’s ethos is based on the Army’s values - courage, initiative and
teamwork – and history clearly demonstrates that it has and continues to
be a central feature of the sport in the Australian Army. Indeed, the
Army’s values have been shaped by competition in sports like Rugby Union
over a century.
The AARU fields both men’s and women’s senior teams, which are selected
from members of the Australian Army. The AARU also provides a vehicle for
talented AARU players to be selected for other representative playing
opportunities.
The AARU Women’s Team was first formed in 1997 and has seen increased
participation over the past few years, with members of the Army Women’s
side being skilled and fortunate enough in the past to gain selection
for the Australian Wallaroo’s.
Calytrix congratulates Army on their success in the 2018 Army Services
Rugby Championship with both the woman’s and men’s teams claiming their
respective championships. The women defeated Air Force 92-0 and followed
up with a 89-0 defeat of Navy at Ballymore, Brisbane. Similarly, the
Army men’s team defeated Air Force 71-5 and got home 18-6 after a very
tough match against Navy on Saturday 4 May.
Calytrix also recognises the fifteen women and eighteen men who were
selected in the 2018 ADF rugby union squads. More widely, three of Army’s
women were capped in the Super W competition earlier this year and two
have been selected in the extended Wallaroos squad.
