The DSE is a set of standards, products and components that, together, provide Australian Defence Organisation simulation interoperability within the ADO and externally with allies and industry. The DSE provides standardisation on simulation protocols and formats in order to enable interoperability between the numerous simulation products and applications within Defence. The DSE capability provides the Australian Defence Organisation with an adaptive, responsive and pervasive capability to exploit existing and evolving simulation system elements to support Defence activities and LVCGame configuration to their various integration needs.
The Defence Synthetic Environment (DSE) Operators training course teaches students to install, configure and operate the DSE Core and DSE Training-in-a-Box (TiB) distributions. The primary learning objectives of this course are to:
Students will learn to identify common integration problems and will gain hands-on experience using the DSE to integrate VBS2 with other simulation tools and systems (HLAnalyzer, Analysim, JSAF) via both DIS and HLA using LVC Game. Students will learn to monitor running instances of LVC Game and to troubleshoot integration problems. Practical examples (hands-on lab exercises) are provided to help students gain experience integrating DSE applications.
Finally, the course covers configuration and application of Calytrix Comm Net Radio Simulator (CNR-Sim) and Comm Net Radio Logger (CNR-Log). Through hands-on lab exercises, students learn to start and configure a group of simulated radios.
To fully participate in the course, students are expected to have the following competencies:
