PRINCIPALS
Shawn Parr
SHAWN PARR
Managing Director

Shawn is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Calytrix Technologies. With over 15 years experience in the IT industry, the last 6 years in the Defence Simulation and Training domain, Shawn brings a wealth of knowledge and delivery experience to the organisation.

Since taking on the role of MD in mid-2005 Calytrix has enjoyed sustained growth and greater opportunities. Shawn has actively fostered an ethos of partnering with defence to ensure that Calytrix's solutions meet the training and operational needs of its customers.

Shawn continues to be an active member of the simulation and training community both nationally through participation with the Simulation Industry Association of Australia (SIAA) and Standards Australia, and internationally through the Object Management Group (OMG) and the Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO).

Shawn holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from the University of Queensland and a research based Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) in Component-Based Software Engineering from Griffith University.

Steve Salmon
STEVE SALMON
Training Systems Principal

Steve Salmon is a Principal of Calytrix Training Systems (CaTS) and has a wealth of military operational and training experience. Steve served 30 years in the Australian Defence Force predominantly in operational, command, training and instructional positions.

Immediately prior to joining Calytrix, Steve was the Director of Studies and Joint Operations Component Director at the Australian Command and Staff College. In previous operational positions Steve was the Director of Joint Plans within the Headquarters of the Australian Defence Force responsible for developing strategic levels plans for ADF operations, the Deputy Commander of ADF forces in the Middle East (Iraq), strategic planning in Afghanistan and as a military observer with the United Nations in Southern Lebanon and Syria. He was the Commanding Officer of the School of Armour and an instructor at the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College.

Amalgamating Joint and Combined operational experience with 21 years of senior command and instructional experience, both within Australia and overseas, Steve provides Calytrix with a valuable insight into military operations and training in general.

In addition to a wide variety of military qualifications Steve is a Graduate and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a qualified Financial Planner, and Master Project Director with the Australian Institute of Project Managers.


Spike McKaskill
DAVID "SPIKE" MCKASKILL
Training Systems Principal

Spike McKaskill, former ADF Brigadier, has trained, served and commanded with Tank, Mounted and Cavalry units. He has been a Tactics Instructor at the Royal Military College, and held Adviser and Instructor positions in Malaysia and the Armoured School, Fort Knox, Kentucky, USA.

Brigadier McKaskill commanded the 2nd Cavalry Regiment and participated in the Restructure of the Army Trials and the 1st Brigade High Readiness initiative. As the first commander of the Army's Combat Training Centre (CTC), Brigadier McKaskill was responsible for the initial implementation of the CTC and the establishment of Army's Tactical Training Simulation Centres. He also established the Army's Centre for Army Lessons and instigated the re-invigoration of Army Doctrine.

Brigadier McKaskill has held the position of the ADF Director Future Joint Warfare Concepts where he was responsible for the drafting of the Future Joint Warfare Concepts Paper and the establishment and implementation of the inaugural Joint Simulation Exercise. On graduation from The Australian Defence College, Brigadier McKaskill was appointed the Director General of Land Development and Director Land Combat Development. Brigadier McKaskill was most recently the Commandant of the Australian Defence Warfare Centre. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2005 Queen's Birthday Honours' and was awarded a Commendation for Distinguished Service Medal for operations in Somalia. Brigadier McKaskill holds an MBA and Masters of Strategic Studies.

INTERNATIONAL SALES
Damon Curry
DAMON CURRY
International Sales Manager

Damon is responsible for Calytrix' international sales and business development. Prior to joining Calytrix, Damon served in similar roles of VP of Sales, Director of European Operations, International Sales Manager, etc., at Primary Image, TERREX, Paradigm Simulation, and Virtual Prototypes, for a total of 18 years in the modeling and simulation industry.

Before that, Damon served 16 years with the US Air Force, including time as software test engineer and avionics hardware engineer.

Damon's engineering background, coupled with his business knowledge and experience, helps him understand customers' simulation needs and respond effectively. He travels extensively to meet and support Calytrix' customers and work with Calytrix' distributors and resellers around the world.

Damon holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Computer Option) degree from The Ohio State University, and is a Distinguished Graduate of the US Air Force Officer Training School.

ENGINEERING & SUPPORT
Erich Schmid
ERICH SCHMID
Engineering Manager

Erich has over 15 years experience in software development, with over four years experience in the simulation domain. Erich has significant experience in providing defence customers with solutions and has been instrumental in leading the Calytrix engineering team.

Erich previously worked at Immersive Technologies leading the project for the new Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting simulator and at international middleware solutions leader Iona Technologies as a team leader and software architect.

Erich holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science with a minor in Electrical Engineering.

Brett Mobsby BRETT MOBSBY
Support Manager

Brett is a seasoned support professional with a background in software engineering and over 18 years industry experience in a wide range of roles. Before joining Calytrix, he worked for various companies specialising in finance, middleware and OH&S software.

Brett is responsible for all aspects of support for the growing range of Calytrix products and also assists with engineering tasks.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree (with Distinction) in Mathematics from the Queensland University of Technology.
