Calytrix and NVIDIA virtualize the globe

At the recent Australian Simulation Congress (ASC) run by Simulation Australasia in Sydney, Calytrix and NVIDIA demonstrated the outcome of their new technology partnership by delivering the virtualized cloud infrastructure that powered the event's LVC integration showpiece: Operation Virtual Pacific. Hosting virtualized Titan Vanguard instances running in Virtual Machines (VM) on the show floor utilising the NVIDIA GRID based GPU solutions to deliver a Distributed Mission Training (DMT) exercise incorporating both local and remote participants on a cloud-based architecture.

Dr Tim Pokorny, Calytrix CTO, commented "The support that NVIDIA has provided us has really allowed us to demonstrate the practical benefits of hosting and distributing high-fidelity virtual environments like Vanguard over a cloud-enabled infrastructure. Unlike legacy systems, Titan relies heavily on the GPU for both display and compute tasks. With this demonstration we show how NVIDIA's class-leading performance can be leveraged to effectively deliver next-generation environments like Vanguard via on-demand cloud-based systems. This is an essential step and starts to demonstrate the application of Vanguard 'at the point of need'".
