Calytrix and Bohemia Conduct Amphibious Demonstration at Pacific 2012

Calytrix Technologies Pty Ltd and Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) will showcase a joint VBS2/JSAF integrated amphibious scenario at Pacific 2012 in Sydney from 31 Jan – 2 Feb 2012.

The demonstration combines VBS2 1.60 virtual environment and the Joint Semi Automated Forces (JSAF) constructive simulation software, integrated into a fully bidirectional federated environment through the use of Calytrix Technologies’ LVC Game. Calytrix will also demonstrate products from its Comm Net Radio (CNR) family which provide realistic multi-channel radio simulators for training environments.

The demo scenario depicts an Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) conducting a ship to shore amphibious assault. The scenario includes VBS2’s new Canberra Class LHD Model with a working wet dock/heavy vehicle dock and light vehicle dock, integrated with elements of VBS2’s larger content library of Australian Defence Force (ADF), allied and OPFOR units.

Pacific 2012 Demo

The scenario covers the key aspects of an amphibious operation:

  • Movement (and sea passage)
  • Pre-landing operation
  • Mine countermeasures operations
  • Ship to Shore Operations
  • Force Protection
  • Establishing a beachhead
  • Naval Gun Fire Support (NGS)
  • Defensive Counter Air (DCA)
  • Close Air Support (CAS)
  • Air Mobile Operations

The scenario demonstrates the potential of simulation to provide a valuable training tool to the Amphibious Response Group and also to the wider Royal Australian Navy. The scenario shows conduct of realistic mission rehearsals of operations in a federated environment, integrating both 3D visual and 2D constructive environments.
