LVC Game connects OneSAF and gaming technologies

Calytrix Technologies announced today that its LVC Game interface software, has connected the US Army’s OneSAF constructive simulation to the serious gaming platform, Virtual Battlespace 2 (VBS2) from Bohemia Interactive.

Using tools provided by Calytrix and Bohemia Interactive, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) created a set of models and game maps that match select OneSAF terrain databases, allowing VBS2 to be used as a warfighter’s view within a common synthetic environment. The combined results enable bidirectional DIS interaction between semi-automated forces in OneSAF and interactive characters, vehicles and other entities in the 3D graphical world of VBS2. This capability provides value to the US Army, combining the Army’s own OneSAF software with low-cost game technology 3D visualization, using industry standard DIS and HLA networking, resulting in expandable, affordable, high-performance simulation and training systems.

Calytrix Technologies is a leading edge developer of tools and other products for military trainers and simulators. Calytrix’ LVC Game provides DIS/HLA connectivity to several low cost 3D visualization products based on game technologies, including VBS2 from Bohemia Interactive Australia.
